Students took these home on Wednesday to share and re-tell the stories at home with their families.

This week we will continue using the Hungry Caterpillar text with a major focus on beginning sounds in words and the days of the week. We have also been talking about the concepts of print (Where is the front cover, back cover, spine, title, pages, point to a word, point to a letter). Using your library book or your bed time story, see if you can find these things!
Also this week we will focus on 2 letters: a and s. Be sure to check out the "Letters so far" page of this website for photos of our craft.
Our word of the week will be 'it'.
We will be learning to write the number 6 and 7 and using objects to make groups of a given number of objects.

Chickens! Chickens! Chickens! The children are very excited to have chickens in the classroom. The chickens are part of our Religion unit - Easter and new life and also cover our Science curriculum learning about life cycles. We have 10 chickens in the incubator that should all hatch some time this week. Please feel welcome to come in and have a look in the afternoons. See picture below.
Also this week we are looking at the text The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This book will have several focus lessons.

Concepts of print, beginning sounds in words, story retell and sequencing
Health: Identifying foods in the story as healthy or un-healthy foods.
I have attached a printable version of the Very Hungry Caterpillar if you would like to share the story at home.
